Gayla,
I'm sure the tab is there to make a post, but I couldn't
find it......would you post that:
Claudia DeWees (class of 1971) will be on Wheel of
Fortune Wednesday, December 31, 2003. She won't say how she did - only that
everyone needs to watch and find out!
Thanks for posting....

Happy Holidays to all and to all a good Knight. I just
wanted to share a great story with everyone on how I managed to see one of our
own Kimball alumni recently while we were on an extended vacation. My husband
and I had planned a cruise to Tahiti in October, but since the cruise
disembarked in Sydney, Australia so opted to tour Asia instead of flying back
to the USA right away. Well, in the back of my mind, I remembered reading
that Robert Siedell had moved to Japan several years ago and since we were
going to visit Tokyo anyway, I thought I would give him a call. He was so
surprised to hear from me! Robert and I actually grew up in the same
neighborhood and went to the same church so we had a long history. He and his
charming wife had us over to their place and out to dinner at the nicest
restaurant while we were there. It was such a treat to see him and get to
reminisce on old times. He is doing well and travels to the US occasionally
to see family. He has really adapted to life there and speaks fluent
Japanese. Of course, he was always so smart! I am sure he would love to
hear from others as well. Here's wishing everyone good health and happiness
for 2004!!

Just wanted to let you know I had a great time at the infamous Rat Pack
dinner the other night. I wish our class would do get-togethers like this.
Looking forward to the next time we all meet. By the way, that guy’s camera
takes some pretty darn good pictures. Take care and have a Merry Christmas.

Last Saturday at the SMU/TCU football game, my
daughter - Jordan Johnson - rode in a police car for the pregame parade (she
is on the dance team, but is injured). She has never met a stranger, so she
asked the officer if he was from Dallas and he said "well, Oak Cliff". She
told him her mother was from Oak Cliff and had gone to Kimball. He asked
Jordan what her mother's name was - so she told him "Dianne Cole". He said -
"I know her". (At this point she could not remember his name when telling me
the story). She then told "the officer" she gets her hair cut at a place in
Oak Cliff named O'Lines from Caroline. The officer said - "Her husband is my
best friend". I knew immediately it had to be Jimmie Tinsley! My daughter
said that was right, but he said his name was Jim (really "Officer Tinsley").
Well, you will always be Jimmie to me! Next part of conversation - "Officer
Tinsley" tells Jordan one of the SMU cheerleader's moms also went to Kimball
with us - mom's name is Becky. Is this Becky Moore? Becky lived behind me!
Becky, if this is your daughter let me know! Email me at:
dcjdance@yahoo.com.
Officer Tinsley - don't be giving me any
parking tickets at SMU!
I love Oak Cliff small world stories!

Just a note. I graduated in 71 and would love having a reunion where I could
reconnect with the 69 and 70 year graduates. I like the idea...

Hey, Gayla! Can't say rather or not I'll be able to attend the get together
in December or not but wanted you to have my new email -
mrthomas281@sbcglobal.net and
also to tell you what a GREAT time I had last week with all of you in Dallas.
Every month after each of the get together I have so longed to be able to join
y'all. Mike and I are so excited to be back in Texas after the ten years
absence being in Kentucky. I hope to be able to make another meeting and also
to join up with the Houston bunch. Please let me know of any other Kimball
Houstonians and I'll try to gather them up.
Also, Gayla, thanks again for the great work you and Janet have done keeping
all of us connected. I've met so many people that wish someone in their class
or school would do the same for them. Keep up the great work and please know
that although we may not ever comment personally to you, we all
appreciate what you do.... until later,
Rene' Daggett Thomas
Note: Anyone in the
Houston area that would like to have a Get Together, contact Rene'. If
you guys get together, be sure and take pictures!
Gayla,
Hi. Hope this note finds
you well. I have moved to McKinney and my computer went on the fritz. It
lost all my logins for everything except my personal email. I got an email
from my old friend from Stockard and he told me that Jan Chesnut died last
month. I don't have all the facts on how she died or the exact date. Could
you please put it on the Kimball website so if there are any old Stockard
Junior High people still around maybe they know more about her death? I would
greatly appreciate it. I have changed my internet carrier. My new email
address will be: lc0304@netzero.com
Hope to see you at one of
the Rat Pack Dinners.
Thanks
Linda
Hi all,
Friday, July 11th at 9:38am, I became the proudest grand
mom again, to Shane Joshua Hazzard, born at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital
weighing 7lbs 11ozs, to mom Tracy Clay and daddy, Chance Hazzard. Cool, born
7-11 and weighs 7-11!
I was able to be there for most of Tracy's labor, until the last moment when a
caesarian was decided upon by the doctors so only Chance could be in surgery
with her. My grand son, Shane Joshua is very healthy, handsome and for now,
very quite.
I will send photos when available.

Hi Gayla,
I feel horrible that I haven't attended monthly functions in quite a while. You
have done such a marvelous job in keeping our 1970 Class going that I honor and
admire you. Many changes have taken place in our lives. We sold our home in
Mansfield and moved to South Arlington. Dale's business is booming and if he
needs help, I have all I need here without going to the office. He travels so
much that I decided to start a book club and as of this date, it has really
taken off. Oprah was my inspiration.
A note to Lonnie. I spent so darn much time at Wynnewood Village that it was my
second home. My father managed the shopping center so I knew everyone there. How
well I remember standing for minutes, hours, watching those monkeys in the
window. Saturdays were spent at Wynnewood Theater in the days where you could
stay all day long if you wanted to. Wow, those were the days.......then came
Westcliff Mall. My dad left Wynnewood and took over at Westcliff. I cannot
believe I used to walk to that place just to wander around hoping to see someone
familiar. Remember Margo's? The Cinderella Shop (where I bought most of my
clothes because they catered to the small people). Wonderful memories to look
back on and treasure. There may be classmates who can't relate and don't have a
clue as to what I am talking about but I remember those times as if it were
yesterday. Oh yeah, the Red Bird Swimming Pool was another hangout in the
summer.......and then Kiest Park on Sunday (round and round we went hoping to be
seen), Griff's, Polar Bear - whatever on Friday nights if you did or didn't have
a date. I just can't believe I have turned 50 and have 3 grandkids and my little
girl is getting married. I know I am rambling but Lonnie's note struck a cord
with me so here I am. Bob Bishop was always a hoot as was Rusty Poston and my
best friend, Ray Bruyere. Things happen and God will take us when needed. David
Lee - I have many, many stories to tell on you and myself (sneaking out at
night), etc. Yes, those were the days.........Melissa Trosper McGonigal (can't
remember all the names you guys called me because of my skinny legs but I'm sure
glad I have them now)! David Lee, you were the worst and if you ever check this
out I would love to hear from you.
Gayla, had to get it off my chest. Use this or abuse it -- it is certainly your
call. Again, you are doing a terrific job keeping this site going.
Melissa
Just wondering how long it's been since YOU had a freshly-shaved ice treat
known as an Aunt Stelle's Snow cone? Well, I had one last fall, October maybe,
just before they closed for the winter. And I very much look forward to enjoying
another "coconut/watermelon/ pineapple" Jumbo (my husband and my sister still
favor the Pink Lady) when they reopen for the season in May! Aunt Stelle's is
still in business, and the lines keep getting longer and longer. Visit them at
Marlboro and Clarendon this summer as they open for their 41st year in business.
I know I will!
Does anyone besides me and my husband (J.J. Pierce 1970) remember the monkeys
in the windows of Volks Bros. store in Wynnewood? We drove to the back of the
current business in that location (Colbert's?), and found brick of a different
color filling the spots once housing realistic-looking tree branches (maybe they
were real, who knows?) the monkeys could scamper up and around on, chattering at
us when we tapped on the glass to get their attention, and mimicking us as we
puckered up to make that kissing sound we thought they liked. The real monkeys
were not the ones in the glass cage!

HELP WANTED-ONLY THE SERIOUS NEED APPLYDear Gayla,
The KHS alumni association BOG is looking for a class representative and
assistant (back-up person) from the classes of '62, '63, '67, '68 and '69. We
would like to have the person who holds the class email distribution list and
hopefully, one other person. Do you know of someone from our class, or any of
the other classes, who might be a candidate?
The class representative needs to have a certain degree of recognition
with the class, leadership skills, a desire to serve, good organizational
skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a business like manner.
That means briefly and to the point, providing enough information to be clear
without over explaining the topic.
Any ideas you have for your class or any others would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Warm Personal Regards,
Bill

Hi Gayla!
How are things? How was
the ho-down?
Hope you're having a great
2003. All is well with me. No real news here, except that I'm going to
Brazil in May.
My husband will be
competing in the IRONMAN Triathlon competition there on May 24th...and we're
making a big vacation out of it too.
(that's a 2.4 mile
swim/112 mile bike ride/26.2(full marathon) run - he hopes to do it in under
12 hours) Of course the pros will finish in about 8 hours.
Many people will finish in
just under 18 hours, so 12 would be awesome.
Personnally, just to see
some of these people finish at all is amazing.
Anywho - keep in touch.
Thank you and regards,
Sandy Anderson
Hi Gayla! Won't be able to make next Rat Pack
but will gladly send in a contribution for the website. Speaking of which,
could you possibly list my toll free # in my business listing? It is (800)
378-9645. Thanks a lot. Hope to be able to drop in on some future
function. I really enjoyed myself when I was there in June. Take
care...........
