PEARCE BARTHENE ADAMS. Born October 17, 1927 and passed away January 14, 2002. Married Carl E. Pearce on November 11, 1950, they were married for more than 30 years. Mrs. Pearce had two daughters, Dr. Carolyn Pearce and husband Dr. David Wallin & Julie Altenau and husband Fred; granddaughter, Jennifer Altenau; sister, Margaret Cook and a host of loving relatives and friends.. She was a member of Rosemont Christian Church where she was Chairman of the board of Elders, Treasurer of the Christian Women's Fellowship, a board member of the Community Labor Service, member of Builders Class & a member of the General Board. She was a graduate of Crozier Tech, Dallas in 1946, graduated from Dallas Baptist University May 1979 with a Bachelors of Science degree, graduated form North Texas State University with a Masters of Education in 1983 with high honors.. She worked as bookkeeper for the Republic Bank from Jan. 1946- Dec. 1951 then as a secretary at Kimball High School, Dallas and taught briefly in Dallas Schools. She then worked for the Dallas County Agriculture/Horticultural Office for years. She retired and became a Master Gardener. Barthene was very active in her church. She was a volunteer at Methodist Hospital. Barthene was very athletic. She started running 10k runs in her late 50's and became an avid tennis player. She played softball at Samuell Grand as a young girl and was offered a position on a women's semi-professional team in the early 1950's. she was a part of the Dallas Tennis Association and played in many leagues. Barthene's most enjoyment came from watching her granddaughter, Jennifer, excel in her swimming. Her life was her family, her church and her love of sports and traveling.
